Program Coordinator

Full-time (4 days/week)

Salary: $52,000*

Benefits: Employer-paid health insurance, paid holidays and vacation days

Location: Based in New York City or within commuting distance

Note: Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor visas for this position.


School for Poetic Computation (SFPC) is hiring a Program Coordinator to provide administrative support for our program which includes classes, workshops, public events, exhibitions, and publishing, and which takes place online and in person. This role offers the opportunity to help support a unique program in a small and collaborative team.

The position is full-time (4 days/week) and eligible for SFPC’s benefit package. The schedule is Monday-Thursday 10am–6pm ET, with occasional evening and weekend commitments for events. The SFPC team is currently working on a hybrid schedule, working in person one day per week in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

*Please note: while it is not required for this position, there is the potential to teach or assistant teach alongside the role outside of regular administrative hours and be paid a freelance rate on top of the salary, arranged on a case-by-case basis. For reference, as of the publishing of this job listing, teachers are paid $6,000 per ten-week section and assistant teachers are paid $3,000 per ten-week section. Currently, SFPC runs four ten-week seasons per year. This is subject to change.

About SFPC

School for Poetic Computation (SFPC) is an experimental school in New York and online founded in 2013. SFPC facilitates the study of art, code, hardware, and critical theory through lenses of decolonization and transformative justice. SFPC offers programs grounded in solidarity across social differences and empowerment through a deeper technical and political understanding of tools towards building just communities.

Primary Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator supports SFPC’s program by managing and improving administrative workflows, coordinating with teachers and staff, and ensuring programs run smoothly from planning through implementation. This position reports to Co-Director Neta Bomani and will collaborate closely with SFPC staff to support program promotion, admissions, registration, and student communications, with an emphasis on online programs.

  • Manage and coordinate detailed program timelines and information using Notion project management system
  • Manage email inboxes and respond to frequently asked questions/inquiries
  • Liaise with teachers including collecting class information, onboarding, and other coordination
  • Compile and prepare class and other program information to be published to SFPC’s website, Withfriends event pages, newsletter, social media, and elsewhere
  • Support admissions process: update seasonal application, communicate with prospective students, liaise with reviewers, and provide general support for application review process
  • Share class materials and resources with students via email and Discord
  • Collect and synthesize student and teacher feedback
  • Provide logistical and production support for SFPC events including student orientations, classes, workshops, public programs, and other community events
  • Other administrative tasks including note taking, calendar management, file organization, sending mail and running errands

  • Experience managing shared inboxes and calendars
  • Proficiency in any of these softwares: Google workspace, Microsoft Excel, Instagram, Notion, Zoom, Discord, Zapier, Github
  • Familiarity with creative, cultural, political, or other communities in NYC and beyond
  • Live stream production experience
  • Copyediting experience
