URGENCY LAB / a one-hour publishing workshop with Paul Soulellis

The first issue of QUEER.ARCHIVE.WORK is an urgent act of publishing that’s radical, messy, and future-looking, edited by Providence-based Paul Soulellis and featuring the work of 13 artists and writers (including Allison Parrish, Jack Halberstam, Porpentine Charity Heartscape, Nora Khan, American Artist, Demian DinéYazhi´, and shawné michaelain holloway). It’s a signal sent out into muddy waters, the start of a speculative practice emerging from (and into) the undercommons — a collective place for subversive artists and writers who reject normative narratives. It’s a loose assembling of queer methodologies, with a particular view towards network culture, failure, and refutation. In this workshop with Paul Soulellis, participants will expand on ideas that appear in QUEER.ARCHIVE.WORK v1.1 by working towards a new expression of collective urgency. Our goal will be to imagine (and enact) a collective effort that loosens hegemonic power through the power of language and publishing. As a new zine emerges, we’ll reproduce and assemble the contributions into a unique, event-specific edition that will be distributed to all participants.
